Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 8, 2026
The short version. User Picks is a free, no-money college-football
pick'em game. We don't run ads, we don't use third-party analytics or advertising
trackers, and we never sell your data. We collect only what's needed to run the pool
and to send you the notifications you ask for — and you can delete everything from
inside the app at any time.
This policy explains what "User Picks" ("we", "us", "the app") collects, why, and what
choices you have. It applies to the web app at
userpicks.app and the User Picks
iOS app.
Information we collect
- How you sign in. You sign in with Google or with Apple. That provider
gives us a basic profile — a name and an email address — so we can create your account.
Apple's "Hide My Email" is supported, in which case we only ever see a relay
address.
- Your display name. The name you choose to appear on the pool
standings. You pick it (up to 30 characters); it is visible to everyone in the pool, on your
public player page at
userpicks.app/u/<handle>, and — if you finish a week
in the top three of either board — in our weekly standings post on X.
- Your gameplay. Your weekly picks, the point spreads locked in at the
moment you submit, and your win/loss standing. Everyone in the pool can see these.
- Leagues you create or join. A league's name, emoji logo, and membership
list. Members of that league can see them. Join codes are shared only by people who
already have them — there is no public directory.
- Push notification token. If — and only if — you turn on notifications,
your device gives us a messaging token so we can send picks-ready, picks-due, and
standings-updated alerts. Turn notifications off and we stop.
- Basic technical logs. Our hosting and backend (Google Firebase)
keep standard operational logs, such as request timestamps. We do not add any analytics,
advertising, or cross-app tracking SDKs to the app.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To run the game: record your picks, compute standings, and show them to the pool.
- To send only the notifications you have opted into.
- To keep the service working, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
Who processes your data
We keep the service intentionally small. Your data is handled by:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, and
Cloud Messaging) — Google acts as our infrastructure provider and stores your account,
picks, standings, and notification token on our behalf.
- Google and Apple sign-in — only when you choose them, to verify who
you are.
- The Odds API — supplies the betting lines shown in the app. It receives
no personal information about you; we only fetch odds from it.
Any third party that handles your data on our behalf will provide the same or equal
protection of your data as stated in this policy.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. You are in control: open the menu in
the app, tap your name, then Edit profile and choose
Delete account. That permanently removes your picks,
your standings entries, your profile, leagues you own, your membership in other leagues,
and your sign-in account, and ends your session. If you'd rather we do it for you, email
us at the address below.
Children
User Picks is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under 13. It involves
no real-money wagering. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact
us and we will delete it.
Security
Your data lives in Google Firebase and is protected by Firebase authentication and security
rules. No online service can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable measures to
protect your information and keep our data footprint small.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant
changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
